Carrying Forward a Legacy. Building a New Future.
After fifteen years at the helm of a vibrant dance training program, Karah Abiog has launched her next chapter in exceptional pre-professional dance education with the training ground sf, which opened in September 2025.
Our esteemed faculty — many of whom have taught extensively within the LINES Ballet education programs — bring immeasurable experience in shaping dancers into professional performers, choreographers, and educators. Under their guidance and Karah’s vision, training at ttgsf offers artists the tools, rigor, and support to grow into who they are becoming.
Let ttgsf be your home for artistry, transformation, and development. Join us in shaping the future of dance.

the training ground sf empowers dancers to move boldly, think critically, and build lasting artistic lives. Through a balance of rigorous work and creative play, we guide dancers to expand their technical range, deepen their artistic voices, and build resilience for a dynamic professional world.
Artistry thrives in diverse communities. We are committed to creating an environment where artists of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences are seen, valued, and encouraged to grow.
our mission
Rooted in classical ballet and informed by contemporary practices, our programs offer comprehensive curricula reflecting the evolving landscape of dance today. Our programs include:
training ground sf: a year-round, full-time program for pre-professional dancers ages 18-25. Audition required.
training roots: the opportunity to participate in ttgsf for seasonal trimesters.
co-LAB workshops: drop-in workshops offering deep dives with featured ttgsf faculty and guest artists. Open to the public; no audition needed.
THE HATCHERY by ttgsf: a summer incubator series for dance artists ready to explore, experiment, and expand their creative practice. Open to the public; no audition needed.
our programs
Our faculty brings decades of professional experience and passionate teaching, offering individualized guidance alongside technical rigor. Throughout the year, we invite guest artists from diverse backgrounds to engage with students, connecting them to a living, breathing dance community that spans disciplines, geographies, and generations.

ttgsf classes take place in the beautiful City Dance Studios at 60 Brady Street in San Francisco, California. Bright and airy with extra-tall ceilings, the large main studio is an inspiring blank canvas that can be transformed into a performance space. Students also have access to observation balconies, a lounge, a kitchenette, and more. With nearby BART and Muni transit options, City Dance SF’s central location makes commuting easy from both San Francisco and the East Bay.
